ABOUT THE COLLABORATION

As part of Gucci’s new Art of Silk: 90 x 90 project, nine international artists have been invited to reimagine five of the brand’s most iconic motifs—flora, fauna, nautical, equestrian and the GG Monogram—drawing inspiration from the house’s archives.

Australian artist Jonny Niesche has reinterpreted the iconic GG Monogram scarf. Introduced in 1969, the GG Monogram features interlocking Gs in a diamond layout. It first appeared on luggage before becoming a signature motif across scarves, ties, and ready-to-wear collections.

Among the other artists who took part in this project celebrating the brand’s legacy of silk craftsmanship, were Robert Barry, Everett Glenn, Sara Leghissa, Currynew, Jonny Niesche, Gio Pastori, Walter Petrone, Yu Cai and Inji Seo.

The collaboration is complemented by the launch of Gucci: The Art of Silk the first book of its kind to explore the history and artistry behind Gucci's iconic foulards.

LEGAL ADVICE FOR JONNY’S CREATIVE COLLABORATION

Guest Work Agency provided legal advice to Niesche on all aspects of the collaboration process with Gucci. Our Director & Founder Alana Kushnir has commented:

"Advising Jonny on this incredible project with Gucci has been an amazing experience. His visionary approach to colour and light aligns beautifully with the brand’s aesthetic, creating something truly special. When collaborating with major brands, artists must seek legal advice and take proactive steps to safeguard their rights, ensuring their creative contributions are properly valued and respected."
